I was born in North Carolina, and recently returned to my childhood home of Hendersonville or ‘Hendo’- in Western North Carolina, I’ve come full circle! I moved to South Africa in my early teens with my medical missionary family and completed high school at Mthata High School in the Eastern Cape. I returned to the US to study English literature at UNC Chapel Hill, and went on to study drawing and painting at the New York Studio School in New York City in the 1990’s. Travelling back to the motherland- I completed an MFA in painting from Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town.
I taught studio art classes and art appreciation at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado for fifteen years- concurrent with an eight year teaching stint at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I also taught art classes for kids in the summer months on a farm there - and developed a curriculum that emphasized the use of natural and recycled materials. On the same farm property I had my studio open to the public for studio tours and co-founded and directed an art group called, “So All May Create” that offered art classes to the public and support for emerging artists.
I have had solo shows at 44T Art Space in Denver, CO and elsewhere and participated in numerous group shows both in the US and South Africa. ( See the ‘exhibition and publications’ tab for a select list of showings). Please use the ‘contact’ tab for questions or comments or to schedule a studio visit. I look forward to hearing from you!
